Following its successful premiere at Greenwich Playhouse in 2008, this new musical comedy is now transferring to the King’s Head Theatre, Islington for a six-week run.
Based on Casanova’s memoirs, this musical romp tells the true story of the legendary lover’s extraordinary life, with 11 actors and 3 musicians bringing over 30 characters to the stage.
Famous today for his womanising, Casanova was also a man of the church, a soldier, violinist, diplomat, spy, alchemist and writer who made and lost fortunes. He used his charm and quick wit to associate with the nobility and intelligentsia of his day, including Catherine the Great, Voltaire and Mozart.
CASANOVA is a light-hearted musical comedy; the score is romantic and melodic, a beguiling mix of traditional music theatre styles.
